Quick Answer
Here is the simplest way to remember it:
Osaka Metro → Namba Station
- M20 = Midosuji Line
- Y15 = Yotsubashi Line
- S16 = Sennichimae Line
Nankai Railway → Namba Station (NK01)
Kintetsu / Hanshin → Osaka-Namba Station
JR → JR-Namba Station
Do not follow a sign just because it says Namba.
Check the railway company first.
Osaka Metro Namba Station
Osaka Metro’s Namba Station serves three subway lines:
M20 = Midosuji Line
Y15 = Yotsubashi Line
S16 = Sennichimae Line
The Midosuji Line is especially useful for visitors traveling between areas such as:
- Shin-Osaka
- Umeda
- Shinsaibashi
- Namba
- Tennoji
If you are coming from Umeda on the Midosuji Line, stay on the same line until:
Namba (M20)

Nankai Namba Station
Nankai Railway has its own Namba Station (NK01).

If your ticket says Nankai, do not go to JR-Namba or Osaka-Namba by mistake.
Osaka-Namba Station = Kintetsu and Hanshin
Another station name you may see is:
Osaka-Namba Station
Unlike Nankai Namba and JR-Namba, this station is used by both Kintetsu Railway and Hanshin Railway.
It is one station, not two separate Osaka-Namba stations.
On the Kintetsu network, Osaka-Namba is:
A01
Kintetsu trains run from Osaka-Namba toward destinations including Kintetsu-Nara.
Hanshin services continue west toward destinations such as Kobe-Sannomiya.

If your route says Osaka-Namba, you are looking for the same station whether you are using Kintetsu or Hanshin.
However, check the railway line and direction before boarding your train.
JR-Namba Station
JR has a separate station called:
JR-Namba Station
It is on the JR Yamatoji Line.
JR-Namba is directly connected to OCAT (Osaka City Air Terminal).
This makes JR-Namba especially convenient if you are using a bus from OCAT.
OCAT – Official English Information
JR-Namba is in the western part of the wider Namba area.
If your destination is around Dotonbori or Nankai Namba, check your walking route before leaving the station.
Going to Dotonbori?
Dotonbori is one of Osaka’s most famous sightseeing areas.
The official Osaka tourism guide lists access from Namba stations served by:
- Osaka Metro
- Nankai
- Kintetsu
Dotonbori is therefore accessible from several parts of the Namba station area.
Osaka Official Tourism Guide – Dotonbori
If your goal is the famous Glico sign or Ebisubashi area, check your exit and walking route before leaving the station.
At Osaka Metro Namba, the official exit map specifically lists Dotonbori for Exit 17 and Exit 25.

How Far Apart Are the Namba Stations?

- Osaka Metro Midosuji Line: about 5 minutes
- Osaka Metro Yotsubashi Line: about 6 minutes
