Suehirocho Station (G14) on the Tokyo Metro Ginza Line is convenient for northern Akihabara.
However, the Shibuya-bound and Asakusa-bound platforms are separate. You cannot switch between them inside the ticket gates.
Here’s how to choose the right exit and avoid common mistakes.
1. Which Exit Should You Use?
| Destination | Shibuya-bound Platform | Asakusa-bound Platform |
|---|---|---|
| Akihabara Electric Town | Exit 1 | Exit 3 |
| Akihabara UDX | Exit 1 | Exit 3 |
| Kanda Myojin Shrine | Exit 1 | Exit 3 |
| JR Akihabara Station direction | Exit 1 | Exit 3 |
| Okachimachi direction | Exit 2 | Exit 4 |
| Yushima direction | Exit 2 | Exit 4 |
Quick tip:
- Exits 1 and 3: Akihabara direction
- Exits 2 and 4: Okachimachi direction
You can reach either area from both platforms without switching platforms.
2. Important: The Platforms Are Separate
Suehirocho Station has two platforms:
- Platform 1 — Shibuya-bound: Exits 1 and 2
- Platform 2 — Asakusa-bound: Exits 3 and 4
There is no passage connecting the platforms inside the ticket gates.
If you need to reach the opposite platform, you must leave the ticket-gate area and go to the other side.
3. Entered the Wrong Platform?
If you accidentally enter the wrong platform, ask a station attendant for assistance before exiting the ticket gates.
The attendant will explain what to do.
Tip: Check the train direction before entering the ticket gates.
4. Suehirocho vs. Akihabara Station
Suehirocho and Akihabara are separate stations.
- Suehirocho: Convenient for northern Akihabara and parts of Electric Town.
- Akihabara Station: Often more convenient for destinations near the JR station.
There is no direct underground transfer passage between Suehirocho and JR Akihabara Station.
If you are transferring to JR, leave Suehirocho Station and walk outside.
