Going to Roppongi?
There is one easy mistake to make:
Roppongi Station and Roppongi-itchome Station are not the same station.
Their names sound similar, but they are on different subway lines and are convenient for different parts of the Roppongi area.
The simple rule is:
Roppongi Station → Roppongi Hills / Tokyo Midtown
Roppongi-itchome Station → ARK Hills / Izumi Garden / Roppongi Grand Tower
1. What Is Roppongi Station?
Roppongi Station is served by:
- Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line
- Toei Oedo Line
It is usually the more convenient station for the central Roppongi area, including:
- Roppongi Hills
- Tokyo Midtown
- restaurants and nightlife around central Roppongi

If your destination is Roppongi Hills, do not choose Roppongi-itchome just because the station name also contains “Roppongi.”
3. Going to Tokyo Midtown?
Again, Roppongi Station is usually easier.
Tokyo Midtown is directly connected to Roppongi Station on the Toei Oedo Line and connected by an underground passage from the Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line.
Tokyo Midtown also lists Roppongi-itchome Station as an option, but it is about a 10-minute walk from Exit 1.
Tokyo Midtown — Official Access
So if Tokyo Midtown is your main destination:
Roppongi Station is usually the simpler choice.
4. What Is Roppongi-itchome Station?
Roppongi-itchome Station is on the:
Tokyo Metro Namboku Line
It serves a different part of the wider Roppongi area.

Use Roppongi-itchome Station.

Izumi Garden / Roppongi Grand Tower — Official Access
This is one of the situations where Roppongi-itchome is more convenient than Roppongi Station.
7. I Got Off at the Wrong Station — What Should I Do?
Do not panic.
Roppongi Station and Roppongi-itchome Station are in the same wider Roppongi area, but they are not directly interchangeable.
Before getting back on the subway, check your destination on Google Maps.
Depending on where you are going, walking may be easier than taking another train.
For example:
- Roppongi Hills → head toward Roppongi Station / Roppongi Hills
- Tokyo Midtown → head toward Roppongi Station / Tokyo Midtown
- ARK Hills → Roppongi-itchome may already be the better station
- Izumi Garden → Roppongi-itchome is convenient
Remember This
The easiest way to remember the difference is:
Roppongi Station
→ Roppongi Hills
→ Tokyo Midtown
→ central Roppongi
Roppongi-itchome Station
→ ARK Hills
→ Izumi Garden
→ Roppongi Grand Tower
The station names are similar, but they serve different parts of the Roppongi area.
Check the exact station name before you get off the train.
