Just arrived in Japan and don’t have any Japanese yen?
Don’t worry. If you have an overseas-issued card, you may be able to withdraw Japanese yen from an ATM.
🏧 1. Look for a Seven Bank ATM
A simple place to start is a Seven Bank ATM, often found inside 7-Eleven stores and at major airports and stations.
Seven Bank accepts many overseas-issued cards, including Visa, Mastercard, UnionPay, American Express, JCB, Discover and Diners Club. However, some cards may still not work.
💳 2. Check Your Card Logo
Look for one of these logos on your card:
Visa / PLUS
Mastercard / Maestro / Cirrus
UnionPay
American Express
JCB
Discover
Diners Club

Try another ATM first.
If it still doesn’t work, you may need to check your card’s overseas-use settings or contact your card issuer.

No cash? Start by looking for a 7-Eleven.
You don’t need to understand every ATM in Japan. Find one that accepts overseas-issued cards and withdraw the yen you need.
