Arriving at Umeda Station on the Osaka Metro Midosuji Line?
Umeda is a major transportation and shopping area in Osaka. JR Osaka Station, Hankyu Railway, Hanshin Railway and several underground shopping areas are nearby.
The stations are connected by pedestrian passages, but each railway has its own ticket gates.
Here’s how to find the right exit.
1. Which Exit Should You Use?
The following exit numbers are for Osaka Metro Umeda Station (M16).
| Destination | Exit |
|---|---|
| JR Osaka Station – Midosuji North Gate area | 3A |
| JR Osaka Station – East Gate area | 8 or 9 |
| Hankyu Railway / Hankyu Sanbangai | 1 or 2 |
| Hankyu Department Store | 6 or 11 |
| Yodobashi Umeda connecting walkway | 4 or 5 |
| Hanshin Railway / Hanshin Department Store | 17 or 18 |
| Hanshin Railway / Nishi-Umeda Station | 7 |
| Whity Umeda underground shopping area | 13, 14 or 15 |
These destinations follow Osaka Metro’s official exit information.
2. Going to JR Osaka Station
JR Osaka Station and Osaka Metro Umeda Station are different stations.
If you’re transferring to JR trains, leave the subway ticketed area and follow the signs marked JR Lines or Osaka Station.
According to the official subway exit information:
- Exit 3A: Toward JR Osaka Station’s Midosuji North Gate area.
- Exits 8 and 9: Toward JR Osaka Station’s East Gate area.
The route you follow may depend on which subway ticket gate you use.
You don’t necessarily need to go outside. Follow the JR signs through the station’s pedestrian passages.
3. Going to Hankyu Railway
For Hankyu trains, follow the signs for Hankyu Railway.
- Exits 1 and 2: Hankyu Railway and Hankyu Sanbangai.
- Exit 6: Hankyu Railway and Hankyu Department Store.
- Exit 11: Hankyu Department Store area.
Hankyu has its own railway ticket gates, separate from Osaka Metro.
Check the signs for Hankyu Railway before entering a ticketed area.
4. Going to Hanshin Railway
For Hanshin trains, follow the signs for Hanshin Railway.
- Exits 17 and 18: Hanshin Railway Osaka-Umeda Station and Hanshin Department Store.
- Exit 7: Hanshin Railway and Osaka Metro Nishi-Umeda Station direction.
The best route depends on where you are in the subway station.
If you’re changing trains, follow the Hanshin Railway signs instead of assuming you must go outside through a numbered exit.
5. Going to Yodobashi Umeda
Yodobashi Umeda is a large electronics and shopping complex near JR Osaka Station.
Exits 4 and 5 are listed by Osaka Metro as connecting walkways toward Yodobashi Umeda.
Follow the signs for the Yodobashi Umeda connecting walkway.
You may be able to reach the shopping complex without first going out onto the street.
